Lodge Activities

Charitable Activities

Youth, Community Service, Scholarship, Veterans Affairs and others

Youth:

Hoop Shoot -- In January of each year the local "Free Throw" competition for 8-14 year olds is conducted. Local winners progress through District through National competitions. Winners receive trophies and/or scholarships. For more information, click this link: http://www.elks.org/hoopshoot/default.cfm

Soccer Kick -- Beginning in 1999, the Elks will initiate a new program for Soccer Players. As soon as details are released you can find them here. As of now, all we know is that the local competition will be in August 1999.

Coloring Book Competition -- This year, Greenville Lodge conducted a Coloring Book Competition involving the school children in the Quinlan area. The children drew pictures with a Drug Awareness theme and the winning drawings were published in the form of a coloring book. The program was so successful that it will be expanded next year. Thanks for the support from the Quinlan School District.

Community Service:

Highway Clean-up -- In April, June, August and October the Lodge participates in the Texas Highway Department's "Adopt-A-Highway" program by picking up the trash along a two mile stretch of Highway 34, in front of the Lodge.

Scholarship:

Most Valuable Student -- In the Fall of each year Seniors in High School complete applications and send them to local Lodges. Local winners compete for scholarships at State and National levels. These scholarships are awarded based on need. (CHECK OUT THE "SCHOLARSHIP LINKS" ABOVE.

Veteran's Affairs:

Elks National Service -- On the 4th Thursday of every month members visit the Veterans in the VA Hospital in Bonham, Texas. They take cakes, cookies and donuts to serve to the patients. Coupon books are provided for the staff to give as prizes during Bingo. The patients can spend the coupons at the Hospital Canteen.
